History of New Life Fremont
2008
CONCEPTION
Dave, his wife, Susan, and the leadership in our mother church, New Life Mission Church of Northern California, began praying about planting a new church in the Bay Area.
2009
PREPARATION
A team of fifteen adults and ten children began meeting monthly to pray and dream about planting New Life Fremont. Dave was commissioned by the Northern California Presbytery to plant a new church in Fremont.
2010
LAUNCH
With the generous support and prayers of numerous individuals and churches we launched public worship at the Silliman Community Center in Newark.
2013
MISSIONARIES COMMISSIONED
Members of the original launch team, Scott and Helen Schleper, were commissioned along with their two boys, Solomon and Paul, to serve as missionaries with Mission to the World in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. They currently serve as teachers in a Christian school near Jakarta, Indonesia.
2014
ASSISTANT PASTOR INSTALLED
Rev. Richard Hong was installed as our Pastor of Outreach and Community Life.
2019
ASSISTANT PASTOR SENT
Rev. Richard Hong was sent by the Northern California Presbytery to plant Risen Hayward.
2019
NEW ASSISTANT PASTOR
Rev. Kevin Timmons joined our church family to serve as our next Assistant Pastor.
2021
INTERIM LEAD PASTOR
Pastor Dave received and accepted a call to be the Assistant Pastor of Spiritual Formation at Resurrection Oakland. Pastor Kevin transitioned from Assistant Pastor to Interim Lead Pastor of New Life Fremont.
2023
NEW LEAD PASTOR
Pastor Kevin accepted a call to serve as a pastor at Canyon Creek Church in San Ramon. New Life Fremont called Rev. Amos Choi to serve as our new lead pastor, and the Chois moved to Fremont to join our church family.
Present
GROWTH
New Life Fremont has been steadily growing. The majority of our growth has come from people new to the area, people who have been away from church and considering going back, and people who have never really gone to church but are considering Christianity. We look forward seeing how your story might join with ours!
