What's the use of living with wisdom in a mad world? As the Teacher reflects on how wisdom has guided him throughout his life he decides that it was all meaningless. Though wisdom made his life a little better than those who lived foolishly, at the end death respects no one. Death stripped away all the dignity and meaning he found in life. The looming reality of death made him "hate life." The Gospel is the message that life loves us. Jesus does not merely provide a way of escaping death, he crushes death and gives all who trust in him eternal life that can never be taken from them.
