New Life Fremont is the result of years of prayer and preparation by a committed group of members and supporters.

David LeeLead Pastor

The Rev. David Lee has lived in San Francisco, Union City, Walnut Creek, Concord, Albany, Berkeley, San Jose, and Fremont. In his former life he was a history teacher at Irvington High School in Fremont. When he left the Bay Area to study theology at Westminster Seminary California in San Diego he went with the desire to come back one day to start a new church.

In 2005, he moved back to the Bay Area with his newlywed wife to serve as Assistant Pastor in New Life Mission Church of Northern California in San Jose. In 2009 David was called by the Northern California Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America to plant a new church in Fremont.

He and his wife Susan have three young children. They enjoy watching movies, having people over at their home, and laughing with their children. David also cares way more than he should about the SF Giants, the Cal Bears, the SF 49ers, and the Warriors.

Richard HongPastor of Outreach and Community Life

The Rev. Richard Hong was born and raised in the Bay Area. He went down to UC Irvine for college and worked as a Civil Engineer until he decided to attend Westminster Seminary California in San Diego. Throughout his training, he sensed more and more, a call and conviction from God to return to the Bay Area to advance the Gospel in the hearts of his home area.

In 2013, Richard was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America as an Assistant Pastor at New Life Mission Church of Fullerton. Shortly after, he was called by the Northern California Presbytery to serve as an Assistant Pastor in New Life Mission Church of Fremont.

Richard is married to his amazing wife, Jen, who works as a Visual Interactive Designer. He is thankful for her everyday. In his free time, Richard likes to play and watch basketball and soccer, hang out with friends, and get some theological reading in when no one is looking.

Fall 2008

Pastor David, his wife, Susan, and the leadership in our mother church, New Life Mission Church of Northern California, began praying about planting a new church in the Bay Area.

Fall 2009

A team of fifteen adults and ten children began meeting monthly to pray and dream about planting New Life Fremont.

Summer 2010

With the generous support and prayers of numerous individuals and churches we launched public worship at the Silliman Community Center in Newark.

Summer 2013

Members of the original launch team, Scott and Helen Schleper, were commissioned along with their two boys, Solomon and Paul, to serve as missionaries with Mission to the World in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Rev. Richard Hong was installed as our Pastor of Outreach and Community Life.

New Life Fremont has been steadily growing. The majority of our growth has come from people new to the area looking for a church, people who have been away from church and considering going back, and people who have never really gone to church but are considering Christianity.
