Building a community that is finding renewal in Christ and striving to live with greater purpose for the good of our city!

David Lee, Pastor

Kevin Timmons, Assistant Pastor

Dave grew up in the Bay Area. He’s lived in Union City, Walnut Creek, Concord, Albany, Berkeley, San Jose, and Fremont. In his former life he was a history teacher at Irvington High School. When he left the Bay Area to study theology at Westminster Seminary California he dreamt of coming back to the Bay to start a new church where people could experience the unconditional love and life-changing power of the gospel.

He and his wife Susan have three children. They enjoy watching movies, having people over at their home, and laughing with their children. They love rooting for the SF Giants, Warriors, 49ers, and Cal. Susan is a bigger baseball and basketball fan than Dave. Susan bakes sourdough from her starter, “Bubbles.” Dave likes learning new Keto recipes.

Kevin considers himself a pan-midwesterner, having lived in Kansas, Indiana, Ohio, and Missouri. After initially seeking jobs to use his degree in computer science, the Lord redirected his path toward ministry. While working in college ministry with Cru, he discerned a call to the pastorate and pursued a Master of Divinity at Covenant Theological Seminary. Afterward, Kevin worked as a Pastoral Resident at Trinity Church Seattle. While in Seattle he married his lovely wife, Holly. She is an avid adventurer and traveler. Providentially, her vocation as a Flight Attendant allows her to fulfill these pursuits.

Kevin follows Kansas City and Indianapolis sports, in that order. He is a fan of live music and enjoys a good pun. He is passionate about creating community and helping others to apply the rich truths of the Gospel to their day-to-day lives. His life goals are to lead the Lord’s people faithfully, perfect his pour-over coffee game, and to score a goal via bicycle kick during a soccer match.

Dave, his wife, Susan, and the leadership in our mother church, New Life Mission Church of Northern California, began praying about planting a new church in the Bay Area.

A team of fifteen adults and ten children began meeting monthly to pray and dream about planting New Life Fremont. Dave was commissioned by the Northern California Presbytery to plant a new church in Fremont.

With the generous support and prayers of numerous individuals and churches we launched public worship at the Silliman Community Center in Newark.

Members of the original launch team, Scott and Helen Schleper, were commissioned along with their two boys, Solomon and Paul, to serve as missionaries with Mission to the World in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. They currently serve as teachers in a Christian school near Jakarta, Indonesia.

Rev. Richard Hong was installed as our Pastor of Outreach and Community Life.

Rev. Richard Hong was sent by the Northern California Presbytery to plant Risen Hayward.

Kevin Timmons was hired to serve as our next Assistant Pastor.

New Life Fremont has been steadily growing. The majority of our growth has come from people new to the area, people who have been away from church and considering going back, and people who have never really gone to church but are considering Christianity. We look forward seeing how your story might join with ours!
